For years, established beauty standards have been out of reach for most people around the world. Advertising, the fashion industry and entertainment have contributed to keeping them alive and even reinforcing them; damaging the self-esteem of men and women almost equally.
Being beautiful even in 2019 means having the France Mobile Number List perfect figure, being tall, slender and having great hair. Although there are some brands that have sought to break with this, there are others that constantly reinforce these archetypes. The latter is the case of Victoria's Secret, whose iconic angels perfectly represent these standards.
Thus, being part of this brand's catwalks is one of the most important goals for the models who are part of the industry.
As we mentioned before, little by little beauty stereotypes have changed and now we can see that some brands are inclusive not only in skin color , but also in measurements. Consumers are increasingly aware of them, and through technological tools they pressure their favorite brands to adopt better practices.
Among the most prominent brands in this area are Forever 21, Levi's, Mango, H&M, C&A, among others. Victoria's Secret wants to add to this list by recently announcing that it will now have a new model that many media outlets have classified as “plus size.”
The new Victoria's Secret model, is she really a plus size ?
After the brand hired the 25-year-old model Barbara Palvin, controversy did not wait. Given the difference between her measurements and those of the rest of the angels, the media irresponsibly described her as the plus size model of the popular lingerie brand.
This immediately sparked consumer outrage. The model in question is 1.75 tall and weighs 55 kilos. Her measurements not only do not resemble a curvy woman at all, but they are much closer to those of an average girl.

What does the brand say about it?
Although the magazine Instyle Spain assures that Barbara will represent the plus size category, being the first to do so, the Victoria's Secret firm denies this to El Universal:
A representative of the firm says that it does not have any plus size category and that the firm only presented its new angel, without mentioning anything about her size or weight.
For her part, Barbara Palvin assures that she is very excited to be part of this project, she even published a video on her Instagram account:
Previously, the model had already walked with the brand in 2012, but it is only now that she is part of the exclusive Victoria's Secret Angels.
Now, Barbará will be collaborating with models such as Elsa Hosk, Teylor Hill, Sara Sampaio, Behati Prinsloo, Lais Ribeiro, among others.
